The Rising Star Award celebrates the achievements of emerging payroll professionals who bring passion, dedication, and promise to the payroll profession. This accolade recognizes individuals with up to seven years of payroll experience who demonstrate exceptional commitment and early leadership potential within their organizations or through volunteer endeavours. 

Nominees must demonstrate a level of accomplishment in the following different areas. 

  • Innovation and Initiative: demonstrates innovative thinking and takes initiative to improve payroll processes or introduce new ideas that benefit their organization. 
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: actively contributes to team success, fosters a collaborative work environment, and supports colleagues in achieving shared payroll objectives. 
  • Professional Growth and Development: shows a commitment to continuous professional development in the payroll field through designations, training programs, or participation in industry conferences and workshops. 
  • Ethical Standards and Integrity: upholds high ethical standards in their payroll practices, adheres to confidentiality requirements, and maintains integrity in all professional interactions. 
  • Impact on Stakeholders: contributions have a positive impact on stakeholders such as employees, management, and external partners, enhancing payroll service delivery or compliance outcomes. 
  • Adaptability and Resilience: demonstrates adaptability in responding to changes in payroll regulations or organizational priorities, and resilience in overcoming challenges within the payroll function. 
  • Leadership Potential: exhibits qualities of a future leader in the payroll profession, such as the ability to inspire others, mentor team members or colleagues, or lead payroll projects effectively. 

Eligibility:

  • Nominees must be a member in good standing. 
  • Hold their PCP, or PLP Designation or be a PCP Candidate. 
  • Current members of the Board of Directors, Nominations Committee, and Staff are not eligible
