Welcome to the National Payroll Institute’s Awards Program, where we honour the exceptional individuals and teams driving the success and advancement of the payroll profession in Canada. Each year, we celebrate outstanding leadership, innovation, and dedication through these prestigious awards, recognizing the remarkable contributions of those shaping the future of payroll.

The following awards are currently open for nominations:

The Payroll Leadership Award, celebrates individuals who are breaking new ground, implementing new strategies, introducing new solutions or innovations, and in so doing, contributing to organizational success through payroll excellence. Typically, this individual will be entrusted to lead a payroll team or department, but it is also open to those who have led a larger initiative that has positively impacted their organization and/or employees.  

The Heart of Business Award – Payroll Team of the Year recognizes a payroll team that exemplifies professionalism, dedication, and collaboration and contributes to their employer’s overall success. A “team” includes payroll departments within the same organization or individual payroll professionals who comprise a department of one, demonstrating consistent and ongoing collaboration with colleagues from information technology, accounting, human resources, and other departments.

The Rising Star Award celebrates the achievements of emerging payroll professionals who bring passion, dedication, and promise to the payroll profession. This accolade recognizes individuals with up to seven years of payroll experience who demonstrate exceptional commitment and early leadership potential within their organizations or through volunteer endeavours.

**New** The Volunteer of the Year Award celebrates payroll professionals whose volunteer leadership, service, and commitment make a meaningful difference, whether through service to the Institute or through community involvement beyond the profession.

Nominations for the following award will open in 2027:

The Fellow of the National Payroll Institute Award recognizes payroll professionals who have made exemplary contributions to the payroll profession.  The F.NPI recognizes volunteerism, leadership, outstanding achievement, and exceptional contributions to the Institute and the payroll profession.

Nominations must be submitted by completing the entry form today! The deadline for submissions is Friday, July 31, 2026.
